Interview with University of Ottawa

Congratulations on reaching finals for the first time! How do you feel after defeating Waterloo?

dRaW: Just another day of a uOttawa SC player, this was expected.
Boo-B: It was easy.
Impervious: To be honest, when I started the team a few months ago, I didn’t even expect us to make the playoffs. We’ve had quite a run so far, just riding the gravy train right now.

Who has been your most challenging opponent this season so far? Any memorable matches during the season?

dRaW: There were really no challenging opponents so far, roughly all the same skill level.
Boo-B: I suspect NonY will be my hardest opponent, but it's tough to say. Memorable match was 5 zergs 5 pools vs harvard.
Impervious: Well, we almost lost to Carleton, our biggest rival school, so that was probably our most challenging opponent :P. As for memorable, in our match against Harvard, our entire lineup 5 pooled them, and we came out victorious. That’s pretty memorable.

As your opponent this week, how would you evaluate Duke? Any special words you'd like to say to them?

dRaW: Duke seems not bad, since luck is for losers good luck to them, they can watch us in the finals via livestream.
Boo-B: Do they really think they have a chance? I'm going proxy gates, they don't stand a chance.
Gooser: Nony, you've always been my hero. To the bold extent that all throughout the tsl my tag was permanently emblazoned as "nonyisadreamboat". But I'm afraid its high time for me to come face to face with my inspiration. If this little tango goes to an ace match i will have to put my dreamboats aside and become my own hero.
simon: I’m going to sneeze in your faces.
Impervious: Duke has some very solid players, as well as the player who could arguably be considered the best in the league. However, he’s not unbeatable. We’re hoping to prove that.

Do you have any expectations as to who you'll be facing should your team make it to the finals?

dRaW: It doesn't matter who we face in the finals we will win easily (Maybe UCSD)
Boo-B: Yeah. We'll be facing the team destined to be second place.
Impervious: I think UCSD is a very strong team. I would be expecting to face them in the finals, although I have been wrong on my predictions before (I predicted MiT would beat Ryerson, clearly that didn’t happen). We’ll have to wait and see.

What are your team's plans in regard to SC2 now that we know the release date?

dRaW: What's SC2?
Boo-B: I probably won't play it too much. Just for fun. If the rest of the team gets accounts, I'll be happy to play with them again, especially if there's a CSL for SC2. The only part of CSL I hate is dealing with latency issues (regarding getting games started), which means SC2 should be great.
Impervious: The release date is official? Wow. Shows how far behind I am..... Right now, the team appears to be split by people who are staying with SCBW, those are upgrading to SC2, and those who are going to play both. Regardless which path the CSL takes, Ottawa will be well represented again.

Any closing remarks?

Boo-B: I like to thank my team for letting me play a game so late in the season. I apologise for being MIA for so long.
Impervious: Kudos to everyone who organized this league. It’s been a lot of fun. It’s been tough to organize this team, but it’s been an awesome experience. Unfortunately, I can’t make it for our match tonight, so I wish Duke good luck, since, as we all know, only losers need luck. :P

Interview with Duran 'Xeris' Parsi, UCSD Coordinator and CSL Administrator

Congratulations on your team reaching finals for the second season in a row! How do you feel?
It feels really nice to reach the West finals again, especially since this season we had the toughest Division in the CSL with Harvey Mudd, Irvine, Caltech, Berkeley, and UCLA all of which could have probably been in the top 8 of the playoffs. I'm happy we were able to pull through with relative ease!

Who has been your most challenging opponent this season so far? Any memorable matches during the season?
Our most challenging opponent has probably been Irvine or Berkeley, and uh one memorable match I played was in the playoff vs Berkeley I played probably their top player (or == skill with Zeko) Chotazza and it was a really nice long game, although I lost in the end (almost pulled off a comeback but massling+defiler killed me). Also, playing vs Novella is always fun (even though I always end up winning muwahahah).

As your opponent this week, how would you evaluate UMichigan? Any special words you'd like to say to them?
They have a surprisingly good lineup, and if I remember right they didn't even make the playoffs last season. Victor and Crazy are both really strong from what I've seen and know, and Kevin (my opponent) and Nubster both have strong records. Nonetheless, UCSD will steamroll you guys and make the finals no problem! (There hasn't been enough trash talk this season!)

Do you have any expectations as to who's going to come out on the other side of the bracket?
When we make it to the finals we'll probably be vs Duke which will of course be an easy win because they only have 1 good player (Nony) and we have 6 :) JK, we'll probably lose vs Duke so I'm hoping Ottawa upsets them so we can have a fun final ^_^!

What are your team's plans in regard to SC2 now that we know the release date?
No idea actually since these will probably be the last 3 weeks of representing UCSD in the CSL for me... as far as I know actually, most of my teammates who have SC2 (since we got beta keys for 2nd place last season) don't like SC2 at all and aren't playing it - so who knows!

What is YOUR personal plan in regards to CSL and/or the UCSD team now that you aren't going to be a student anymore? (I hear law school can be tough.)

Well, I'm graduating in June, just finishing up my last requirement. Since I'm taking a year off before grad school, I guess I'll still try to coordinate for UCSD in the meantime (obviously I can't actually play next season)... and of course since I'll be an unemployed bum I will have much more time to devote to making the CSL awesome so expect bigger and better things next season.

Lastly, how do you get your hair to be so silky smooth?
Well Peter, my hair is always silky smooth because like most of my bretheren I use hummus in all of my personal hygenic products, including shampoo and conditioner. That is the key to the silky smooth. You know this.

WOW WAY TO FAIL! If you guys posted this BEFORE our game against Duke, GUARANTEED our 3-0 victory!! Also nice games and too bad they showed up last minute =/ would have rather just played @ 8:00 instead of waiting until 9:30 to not get to play T_T.

Next time uOttawa, next time...
