Hello all and welcome again to another installment of our weekly interview series! Due to some technical difficulties (and a personal illness), the interviews scheduled for weeks 4 and 5 have been slightly delayed... so without further ado, the first of four interviews in a JAM-PACKED WEEKEND of HYPE. Today, we'll be bringing you a brief interview with the University of Southern California! Remember, if you want your team to be interviewed, send a message to cstarleague@gmail.com and we'll be in touch!
Read more after the jump.
Let's talk about the team - introduce yourselves and all of that. In past interviews people have just given a sentence or two about each of their members, how long the team's been around and their general experiences.
Well we have our core team, Yu Hang Zhou, Seounghui Lee, Andrew Lee, and Allen Kou. Everyone is asian and nerdy so I guess we're like 99% of all the other teams in the CSL. Sean Plott is our resident "Team Celebrity" having been downgraded/upgraded from "Team Coach." We actually have a club at USC called USC eSports, and the CSL team is a part of that organization. The non-core members are those who play Starcraft more casually or have passions in other areas. Last season we had a CSL player who was really an A Warcraft III player, but this season he decided to go back to Warcraft unfortunately :( He just started learning Starcraft last season, and those he was still developing his macro, his micro was absolutely godly. Getting Allen was definitely helped heal that wound though!

The USC CSL team hard at work.
Right now you're set to be playing UVic (are you playing them right now?). Of course, they're one of the more known schools for their interesting antics. How do you think you'll do against them? Do you have anything special planned?
Haha, we set up our lineup so that we would match our worst player against their best. As a sacrificial lamb, so that we would have a higher chance of winning our other matches. Right now, he is trying to cheese against U Vic's player so maybe he'll be able to pull a lucky win. If we lose against UVic I'm going to be like: (ノಥ益ಥ)ノ ┻━┻ and then: ಢ﹏ಢ
What do you think of your single loss so far? Do you think it will come into play significantly? And, since it's the middle of the season, who else do you expect to come out on top in divisions?
What loss, I know of no loss ¯\(ºдಠ)/¯ Actually, I think that a loss in the middle of the season is very good for the team. We were getting overconfident, but the loss helped to motivate everyone to work harder and to take each match seriously. I'd say U Vic is one of the strongest competitors in our division, they had a strong showing last season. If we were in the same division as last season though, I'd have a much harder time deciding; SoCal is truly the land of the SC Titans.
How does your team go about practicing? I know some of the other teams have some pretty structured affairs.
We're pretty casual about it. Most of our members like playing Starcraft and play and train on their own time. But we mainly want to focus on training our fundamentals, it's no good if we know all of the theory but can't execute them effectively. Half of our players are now playing sc2 instead of training for their matches, but I suppose most of the other teams will be suffering the same things \(゜Д゜三゜Д゜)/¯

Professor Day[9] provides a lesson for the team!
Okay. Let's talk a little bit about Day[9], whom you mentioned earlier was team coach. What kind of role does he play on the team?
He'll come around occasionally and build morale. Last season he'd do alot of what he does now on the Day[9] dailies. He's a lot busier this season though, so he can't come to as many meetings.
Any final remarks?
USC is the University of Starcraft?
USC went on to win in their match against the University of Victoria, 3-2!
And that's it for now! Stay tuned this weekend for more exciting interviews!

That map is Gaia. A pretty awesome, oldschool map. It's not in the CSL mappoool, but it is in the ICCUP mappool.
Mike and I were collecting awesome emoticons all of last week xD. The last emoticon is out of context though.
good shit Peterrrrrrrr ^__^!
