Did you enjoy CSL Season 2? Are you sitting at the edge of your seat waiting for the start of Season 3? Well, hopefully your hunger will be satiated, the CSL Season 2 All Star game is coming to a computer screen near you! Saturday, February 13th, the best players from the Eastern and Western Conference will duke it out for your entertainment and ultimate bragging rights. The East is known to harbor big-name celebrities in the foreign scene, boasting two former progamers (Assem and Nony), while the West has the ever mysterious Baechigi, and Jaeyun from San Diego who has made quite a splash in the CSL playoffs and Individual Tournament. Will the East's star power overcome the blue-collar West players? Or... will the West score an upset victory? Next Saturday, as a pre-Valentine's Day treat, at 9pm EST, the CSL All Stars will go to war!
Now, let's meet the CSL All Stars from the East and West - and the matchups and maps:
East All-Stars 4-2 West All-Stars
Here are two interviews with the captains of each team, Mark Ha from Princeton heading up the Eastern Conference, and Duran Parsi from UCSD leading the West:
[CSL]: How do you feel about the East's chances in the all star match ?
Mark Ha: Well, despite the East having a lot of big names and better players, I feel like the lineups don't favor them too much. We are missing JF and Jackass from our starting lineup, the two best players in the East besides maybe Nony or Masterasia, so the East will be a little weaker than expected. I definitely don't think we're gonna roflstomp West, with people like Jaeyun and qxc showing their dominance in the individual tournament. 3-3, imo.
[CSL]: The East is known to have a lot more "star power" than the West, any theories as to why the more famous players are concentrated in the East?
Mark Ha: Ehh... just a coincidence really. We have people like Nony, Masterasia, and JF in the East, but it doesn't have much to do with them being in the East. It's just how things turned out. The only theory I can think of is that the East > West in general =D.
[CSL]Of all the matchups, which are you most looking forward to / which do you think will be the most exciting to watch?
Mark Ha: I'm looking forward to Nony and beachigi - Nony seems to be out of his rust; I've watched his stream a bit lately and while he's not on the top of his game yet maybe, he's definitely a very strong player. Baechigi, iirc, is C+ at best, so Nony should be able to absolute dominate him if he doesn't get cheesed or something. To be honest though, none of the matches look very close - Freaky-jolin seems to be the closest, but I think Freaky will pull through. Xeris and Masterasia should be good, simply because I've never seen Masterasia play, but have heard so much.
[CSL]: So what are your thoughts on the lineup, and the West's chances? Any predictions for the match results?
Duran Parsi: I think individually we are outclassed, the East players are much more 'known' than we are... but I think we actually got about as good of a draw as possible. I think if all my players (including me) take the match seriously we can score a pretty nice upset win! So I'll go ahead and predict 4-2 for us
[CSL]: The West, in my opinion, has a lot of hidden talent. People like Jaeyun and qxc haven't been heard of, but are definitely very skilled. Do you think the West has more of this hidden talent? Or are you guys reaching your peak in terms of good players?
Duran Parsi: I think we have people who could be good, but aren't necessarily experienced in the foreign scene (such as Jaeyun). In the next season though, we are having an influx of some strong players such as iNcontroL and Stalife (from Oregon and UBC). I think if West players remain active and train a lot, we can sort of equalize the talent.
[CSL]: Which matchup will be most interesting for you?
Duran Parsi: I think the most interesting match by far will be Jaeyun vs Derivatives... both players I think are B level, so in terms of skill it is the most equal (should be, at least)... so I think they will produce the most epic game. I also hope to play a solid game myself... :)

yes they do T_T!
Well, even though UofT has 2 b- Ts now, it's still hella hard to get into the east lineup ^^. The best east allstar lineup is B and above probably.
