Why are playoffs bo7 in sc2 until the finals where it becomes bo5?

This really doesn't make ANY sense. Making the finals bo5 undermines the entirety of the playoffs for SC2.

because they don't want to pay flights/food/lodging for those extra 8 people.

Wait, so there is no NA championship? Even if it was jsut for bragging rights, NA should be settled so we know who wins this

Is it needed? I think top half of bracket is ridiculously stronger than bottom half of the bracket.

What is this $16,000 in scholarships? Was there something we had to apply for or is it something new/random? Also, it's kind of a bummer about only the world top 2 going to korea. I would rather win $2000, but go to the event and get to experience a live audience than get top 4 and go "woo we get some good money, now I can celebrate from my bedroom on skype" XD

Laffs: I don't believe they're in same school... 3 Schools from top half have 3 gms(Waterloo, Gatech, and UNT), whereas top bottom half schools have 1-2 GMs at most. 3 GM to 1 GM is huge different, despite the fact that one school might have strongest player in the CSL.

I think it's a closer call than some make it out to be, but the top half is definitely stronger than the bottom half.

Only because of the number of hard schools though, I'm not really sure who would win in the NA championships.

Captain of Northern Arizona University CSL here, we're currently practicing our hearts out. When we heard it would be a best of five it was very disheartening. We have all put in a lot of hard hours in getting this far, done a lot of work together and have became a strong team and great friends on and off the keyboard. It's terrible knowing we are unable to send the whole team.
