The CSL team at UC Irvine (Mascot: Peter the Anteater) is proud to host the first ever CSL Regional LAN. The west coast has always been a breeding ground for the best talent in the CSL and StarCraft 2 community, which should ensure that the CSL Regional LAN series debut will showcase the most talented west coast collegiate players. This event will be one of four regional LAN events that will also grant CSL playoff qualifications for schools on top of the prize pool.
We have given up everything and followed ESPORTS.

The groups were made by ranking all the CSL teams attending by their rank in the regular season. We then filled in the groups from left to right (A - B - C). So in this case, the top 3 schools attending are UC Davis, UC Berkeley, and UC Riverside in that order. The schools ranked 4-6 are CPP, UCSB, and UCI, respectively.
The bottom two ranked schools were pushed over to group B and C.
Format:
Day 1:
3 groups, with top 2 from each group advancing to the Ro8 Bracket.
Rest of the schools go into wild groups, which will allow two more schools to advance to the Ro8 bracket.
Day 2:
Ro8 single elimination bracket.
Depending on the schedule, we may/may not begin the Ro8 on Day1.
Standard CSL format, including 2v2 and ace match. Subject to change.

So what is the match format? Do we need 4 or 5 players?
You'll need 5 players, sorry about that!
There will most likely be a 2v2.
why is the prize pool so terrible
^ You serious? What there even prize pools before?
the prize of avoiding 14 hours of driving
The registration and travel stipend dates are different depending on the page you look at.
See you guys in Irvine! ^.^
Is this BYOC (if so why only 2 laptops?)
Are desktops allowed as well?
It is BYOC. Desktops allowed, but we recommend laptops for convenience. The hotel is not walking distance to campus.
Volunteers to admin tournament, manage stream production, and admin more of the tournament are welcome and needed. Contact me at tcyoung at uci dot edu if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions for the Irvine venue specifically.
Quick update: Currently talking to Hilton about further discounting their rate. It's currently $99 a night for students., looking to bump this down more. There are other hotels available, but this has the most rooms to accommodate and a shuttle service to campus. Thanks for your patience.
Also, I'm assuming teams are sharing one room.
Some nice team bonding time :D
i just want to make sure on this...
is this going to be team league style (like normal csl school vs school matches) or individual players?
team league style
A lot of people have personally talked to me on Skype or Facebook, but we still need everyone to fill out the official form! Deadline is January 6th.
Same with the stipend form!
Wait....
Are you SURE it's team league? I had heard if we brought 8-9 competitors they can all compete.
I think theres a misunderstanding on what a "team league" is here.
All the matches are in the CSL regular season format.
Set 1: 1v1
Set 2: 1v1
Set 3: 2v2 (tentative)
Set 4: 1v1
Set 5: Ace
If you play 8-9 competitors, between matches you can swap out who plays during what set. By "team league", I meant we're following the Brood War Proleague team-oriented style we have always been using.
I just realized that "team league' can have different implications now, so I apologize for the confusion. I was BW fan so the definitions get mixed up with SC2.
Edit: Nevermind.
UC Riverside would like to formally and respectfully challenge any school at Basketball at the LAN. No ringers guaranteed, all our ballers will be playing in the LAN. If youre scared, we understand.
I've already used this joke already but...
THERES A CUSTOM GAME FOR BASKETBALL?
