Register [top]
(Deadline: January 31, 2012)
**Fill out one form for each regional LAN you plan on attending.

Eligibility

  • Any North American colleges or universities are eligible
  • Minimum of 5 players
  • Minimum of 2 laptops per team
  • When you register, you must be 100% sure about your participation in the LAN. Your decision should not depend on the results of the travel stipend. If you have a financial situation, please let us know through email instead of registering through the form below.

Your team can attend any, none, or all regional LANs. However, remember that travel stipends will only be awarded for teams within reasonable distances (e.g., schools in Washington state should not request money for a flight to the Princeton LAN but should instead consider chartering a bus for Irvine’s LAN).

Register HERE. Please fill out this form and send to cstarleague@gmail.com titled “PRINCETON REGIONAL LAN” before January 31, 2012 midnight PST.

Stipend [top]
(Deadline: February 9, 2012)

Travel stipends will be awarded on a case by case basis. Priority will be given to schools traveling longer but reasonable distances. Travel stipends will only cover the minimum amount of players (4-5). Travel stipends will be a reimbursement and teams should not rely on stipends to attend the event (more details in the request form).

Apply HERE. Please fill out this form and send to cstarleague@gmail.com titled “PRINCETON TRAVEL STIPEND” before February 9, 2012 midnight PST.

Since and continues to ruin all our lives, let’s join for two days of fierce collegiate competion, great games, and great company. Experience all the cheese, tears, and victories of CSL - but this time, in person. Want to smash someone who cannon rushed you? Want to trashtalk your opponent across the table? This time, you can!

We're just kidding about the physical violence and BM, but in any event this LAN should be a blast for the East Coast. Mark your calendars, book your buses, and get yourselves over here for March 9. Cheers, and we hope to see you there!

Please send any questions to monaz@princeton.edu and CC cstarleague@gmail.com. Thanks everyone!

I see it says minimum of 2 laptops per team, but is this a bring your own computer event? Or will there be computers there that we have to play on?

It's BYOC/BYOL - we don't have the funding to provide 60+ computers XD.

Forms seem okay to me - if you have to, highlight the gray boxes and replace it with your answer? Unless it doesn't even appear correctly for you?

Do we have to be there for the opening ceremony?

Thanks for the quick response! I've got another question real quick. Will the match format be the same as the CSL regular season? That is to say, will there be a 2v2?

I've gotta wash my hair that day.

2v2s will be determined later - logistically, 1v1s would be easier, but if we can manage to fit in 2v2s we most likely will :)

Jason... I don't even know what to say lol.

Would be good to know beforehand since some schools have dedicated 2v2 players, though it strikes me as a little odd that the csl format is changing for the regional lan O__o;;

Can we change the players on the roster after we register? Depending on if there are 2v2s or not, we may bring different players.

Also, are phone numbers required for every player we list on the roster?

Edit: We also seem to be having some trouble booking the hotel. When we get to the page that says "Select Your Room and Rate" there are no rooms to select. Are they sold out already or is this an error?

@Mona - not exactly, but I intend to drive up from VA (either with VCU or VaTech), anyways email incoming

We need to get wired internet to many, many computers and the logistics of doing that with 2v2 are...interesting. We're doing our best to have 2v2 so please plan with that in mind.

@Furnace - Yeah, just send us an updated registration form. When you send in the first one, we assume that you are 100% coming as a team (but not necessarily the same people).

We strongly encourage you to write down everyone's phone numbers. If someone is really disinclined, coordinator's phone number will do. Just don't want people to get lost and miss matches D:

Checking with hotel now to see what's up.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind bringing in our own cables / playing wirelessly. UW has hosted wireless sc2 tournaments before and they ran fine.. although I totally understand trying to setup space for 100+ gamers is quite the challenge ;__; well GOOD LUCK ! haha

Hotel's response:

I actually do not know what is wrong. I just tried the link myself and there are definitely rooms available and they are able to be booked through the link.

The only thing I can think of is that they are trying to book rooms through some other method (a different web site or something) instead of the specialized link I sent you. If that is in fact what they are doing they will not be able to book rooms that way because I reserved 100 rooms for the event. That is pretty much all I have. So another online channel will not show any rooms available because they are all being held for your event. Even if they went directly to our web site and tried to book a room it would not be available because of the above reason.

The only 2 ways to book rooms are to use the specialized link I sent you or call the hotel directly and ask for a room for the event on March 9, 2012.

I believe the above is the problem. When using the specialized link there is no ‘Select your room and rate’ page or option because the rate is all ready set. They would only have to choose the room type. They simply go to the middle of the page and click the ‘Book A Room’ button.

I hope this information helps and if you need anything, please never hesitate to ask.

I'm am/was using the link from this page. I'm still getting the same problem when I try again. I can just call the hotel, I just wanted to give a heads up in case others were having the same problem.

The main problem with the internet at Princeton is that people would need to register their computers before they are allowed to use the main network (there is a visitor network, but I doubt that it is enough for 1-2 days of playing). That in mind, we're trying to work out something with Princeton's IT department, but obviously, more computers means more potential for problems.

But we'll be keeping everyone updated of course ^^
